Your club coach has a job to do. We become an extra team around you.

Most serious goalkeepers already have coaches.

But that doesn't always mean someone is looking at the whole picture.

Your performances. Your technical development. Your physical development. Your training environment. Your opportunities. Your next move. Your long-term pathway.

That's where MDGK Personal Mentorship is different.

We don't replace your existing goalkeeper coach. We work alongside your environment and give you another level of specialist support from three people who are continually looking at your development.

"You don't just get another goalkeeper session. You get three people continually looking at your game, helping you understand what needs to improve and making sure your development has direction."
SHAUN, MARK & LEE - THE MODERN-DAY GK

Built for goalkeepers who are serious about where they want to go.

Personal Mentorship is primarily designed for ambitious goalkeepers from around age 14 upwards. You don't need to already be in an academy or professional environment, but you do need to be serious about improving.

For goalkeepers

  • You want specific feedback on your own performances
  • You want to understand why things happen, not just be told what technique to use
  • You want individual training based on what your game actually needs
  • You're aiming for academy, college, semi-professional or professional football
  • You want experienced people to help guide the journey

For parents

  • You know your son or daughter is serious about goalkeeping
  • You want expert eyes on their development outside their club environment
  • You want honest advice about strengths, weaknesses and next steps
  • You want help navigating trials, clubs, opportunities and development decisions
  • You want people genuinely invested in the goalkeeper rather than simply selling sessions

We don't just give advice. We continually learn about your game.

Every goalkeeper starts in a different place. That's why the mentorship is built around a continuous development cycle.

1

Understand the goalkeeper

We learn about your current level, playing environment, ambitions, training, physical development and what you feel you need help with.

2

Analyse what is actually happening

You send us match and training footage. We look beyond isolated actions and analyse the information, decisions and behaviours behind them.

3

Set individual development priorities

We identify the areas that can make the biggest difference and create clear priorities rather than trying to improve everything at once.

4

Shape training around the game

We recommend goalkeeper work, individual exercises, physical development and training ideas based on what we are seeing.

5

Review, adapt and repeat

New clips give us new information. We review progress, adapt priorities and continue building the goalkeeper over time.

Support for parents
Parents can ask questions too. We help families understand the goalkeeper's development and make better-informed decisions.

Three specialists. Three viewpoints. One plan.

One of the biggest strengths of MDGK has always been that there are three of us.

We each bring something different to the goalkeeper's development.

Lee brings first-hand knowledge of the football pathway after 15 years in the professional game. Mark connects goalkeeper development with physical preparation through his strength and conditioning background. Shaun leads heavily on goalkeeper analysis, development planning and connecting what happens in games back to training.

But the real value is that we don't work in isolation. We discuss problems together, challenge each other's thinking and combine three viewpoints before deciding what we believe will help the goalkeeper most.

We've helped goalkeepers at every stage of the pathway.

Over the years we have worked closely with goalkeepers from grassroots football through academy, semi-professional and professional environments.

15 years in professional football
Lee experienced the goalkeeper pathway first-hand across a long professional playing career and understands the decisions, setbacks, pressure and opportunities that come with football.
Helping goalkeepers move forward
We have helped goalkeepers navigate trials, contracts, club moves, opportunities and transitions between different levels of football.
Back into professional football
We worked closely with Henrik Ravas during his journey back into professional football after more than five years outside the professional game.
A genuine goalkeeper network
MDGK has spent years building relationships with professional goalkeepers, goalkeeper coaches, clubs and people throughout the football world.

We won't promise you professional football. Nobody can honestly guarantee that.

What we can do is give you experienced people in your corner, help you improve the areas that matter, guide important decisions and put you in the strongest position possible to progress.

You don't need to live near MDGK to have MDGK in your corner.

The mentorship is designed so geography doesn't have to limit the level of specialist goalkeeper support you can access.

Whether you're in the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Australia or anywhere else, your match footage can be analysed by MDGK and your development can be continually guided from wherever you play.

For goalkeepers who visit the UK, there may also be opportunities to combine mentorship with in-person MDGK training.

We deliberately limit the number of Personal Mentorship goalkeepers we work with because the value comes from genuinely knowing each goalkeeper and their journey.

A few things families usually ask.

Does this replace our current goalkeeper coach?
No. In most cases we want the goalkeeper to continue working within their normal club and coaching environment. MDGK becomes another layer of specialist support around the goalkeeper.
Why have three MDGK coaches instead of one online coach?
Because goalkeeper development isn't just technical. Lee brings extensive first-hand knowledge of the professional football pathway, Mark contributes goalkeeper coaching and qualified strength & conditioning expertise, and Shaun focuses heavily on analysis and individual development. All three of us then discuss the goalkeeper together rather than working separately.
Does it matter where in the world we live?
Not at all. Footage, WhatsApp communication and video calls allow us to work with goalkeepers anywhere in the world.
How quickly do you respond?
We aim to respond to clips, questions and important updates within 24 hours on weekdays. Some analysis may take longer where we want all three coaches to properly review something.
What age is Personal Mentorship for?
It is primarily designed for serious goalkeepers from around age 14 upwards. Younger goalkeepers may be considered where we believe the mentorship is genuinely appropriate. We also work with senior and professional goalkeepers.
Does the goalkeeper need to be in an academy?
No. Level matters less than attitude. We are happy to work with grassroots or amateur goalkeepers who are genuinely serious about improving and willing to do the work.
Why is there a minimum commitment?
Because the real value comes from us learning the goalkeeper over time. We need to see performances, identify patterns, understand the environment, set priorities and then assess how the goalkeeper responds. That can't be done properly in a few weeks.
Can parents be involved?
Absolutely. Particularly with younger goalkeepers, we encourage parents to be part of the WhatsApp group and ask questions whenever they need guidance.
Can you help with trials, clubs and career decisions?
Yes. Pathway support is a major part of the mentorship where it is relevant. Lee spent 15 years inside professional football and has experienced the realities of the pathway first-hand. We can help goalkeepers and families think through opportunities, setbacks, trials, moves and important decisions as they arise.
Can we train with MDGK in person?
Yes, where possible. If you're travelling to the UK or attending one of our camps, speak to us and we can explore suitable in-person opportunities.
Do you guarantee I'll become professional?
No, and we'd be wary of anyone who did. Football pathways depend on many factors outside any coach's control. Our role is to help you become a better goalkeeper, make better-informed development decisions and put yourself in the strongest position possible.
How do I know if it's the right fit?
Apply and tell us about the goalkeeper, their current level, age, ambitions and what you feel they need help with. We'll have a conversation before anything starts and we'll be honest about whether we believe we can make a meaningful difference.

Give your goalkeeper a development team behind them.

Apply and tell us about the goalkeeper. We’ll personally review the application and come back to you with whether we think the mentorship is a good fit and how we could help.
